On this 10th anniversary of September 11, I wanted to write something to honor the memory of that day and the lives lost, but I'm finding myself struggling with the words.
Looking back now I realize I didn't fully comprehend everything at the time. I remember watching bits and pieces of the coverage on TV at work. I knew it was a big deal, but I didn't know anyone in New York, had never been there.... so my day to day life was relatively unaffected.
Over the years, I have grown to understand the huge impact of these tragic events on our nation. Watching it all over again now, I feel so much more emotion.
September 11 is also my Dad's Birthday. So while we celebrate his birthday every year, we also remember that sad day.
My Dad took this photo at Cannonsburg today. It's called The Healing Field. 3200 Flags. Each represents a victim. It's eye opening to see them all lined up like this.
I am so grateful for our freedom, and all the brave soldiers who protect our great country! Thank you for your service!
